In the ifs-root.ifs image file, a certain address range is copied out with a hex editor and saved separately (see Rennlist Porsche Forum, instructions have already been posted here).
This new smaller ifs image is then unpacked under Linux using the dumpifs tool.
Among other things you have the file "MIBRoot". Here the FEC check has to be processed in two places with the IDA Pro program (at that time the description was still online).
After saving, the extracted files are packed again into an ifs image.
I have not yet been able to unpack and pack. I haven't dealt with it that much yet, because I let it flash cheaply.
You can copy the MIBRoot file to the SD card via root access on the MIB system, but you cannot copy it back due to write protection.
Therefore a certain address range is flashed.
