10485836 - control unit defective - that is because they are using stolen and complete work of course
If done the right way then there is no error at all.
There are two ways to do that.
One way is what i call it "cheap way" where one can change the design using either coding or some setting of the mmi.
Other way "the right way" is making as it was coded from factory and enabling the change of layout the original way.
In reality both ways are possible remote but out of the 3 people that can do it the right way, no one will do that remote and there are a lot of reasons behind that.
The "cheap way" but with 0 erros is easier but because of the fact that there is a risk that the hard work of one is copied and then shared ... again same as above - that will not be done remotely any time soon. .. or the info will be realesed by the original author ... who knows what this year can bring
On the facelift dash is even worst, no 100km anymore. Once the factory does the coding it gets locked. If factory does not lock it then there is a constant error ... like a reminder that something is not right ... according to audi.
So best way to do it the right way - either buy 0km dash or get yours coded by someone that knows what he is doing.
As i see some are considering modifying the software - keep in mind that recovery of such dash its not always easy and you might need to contact other guy. In case of MQB (A3 / TT / R8) you may end up with a car that does not start anymore. In either of the cases you will need to remove the dash and send it aboroad which means 1-2 weeks w / oa car. In case of MLB the car will start but almost none of the safety systems will work because the dash is key part for many of them and they are all connected.
Hope this brings some light on the risks you are taking when touching such component as the dash baord. Its not a joke like the MMI units.
Regards.
