Facebook will be releasing a video app for the Amazon Fire TV
In a blog post, Facebook has announced that they will be releasing a video app for the Amazon Fire TV, as well as other platforms like Apple TV and Samsung Smart TV. Facebook says the app will allow you to “watch videos shared by friends or Pages you follow, top live videos from around the world, and recommended videos based on your interests.” You’ll also be able to access videos you’ve already watched on Facebook through other platforms, and will be able to bring up a list of videos you’ve saved to watch later.
Last year, Twitter released a video app for the Fire TV, but that was mostly to expand their Thursday night NFL football viewership. It seems like Facebook’s app will, at least initially, be more about videos coming from your network of friends, than from Facebook itself. No word on when the new Facebook video app will be release.
