BTW : you need to pack the update files on the CF card as well for the V6 update ! Update with CD doesn'nt work for what reason ever.
After the upgrade to V6 has been done you need to delete those files From the CF card again. The magic text should be at the beginning of the unpartioned part of the CF card. Should be address EE237000
The first hex number after the magic text is probably a 0A instead of 00.
If you have an unpartionable part as well than insert it there as well.

I have a Becker Cascade BE7944 with software and maps V5.01 on a 2Gb Sandisk Ultra II CF card.
I tried about everything to make the update to V6.0, on a 4 Gb Sandisk Ultra CF card.
I followed all instructions of this thread, without success, it drives me mad.
Somewhere I must be doing something wrong.
About the 4Gb CF card, with WinHex I see:

Partition 1 3,7 GB
Start sectors 31,5 KB
Unpartitioned space 23,5 MB
Unpartionable space 2,7 MB

Are these sizes critical?

I am not 100% sure about where to place the MagicText "HARMANBECKER HARMAN V6"
and the following 0A 00 00 00 00 ... input.
How do I perform a hard reset (Info + Navi + Status ???)

I really need some help!

Maybe I can help !

First, the partitions look fine to me ! They need to be FAT 32 format !

Secondly, the magic text is : HARMANBECKER BECKER V6 and than ziro A and than ZiroZiro
You need WinHex to find the beginning of the unpartioned and unpartionable space.

It should be always at the beginning of the unpartioned space. (One possible address in hex is EE237000 for the unpartioned space but please check with winhex!) If this is not working please add it to the beginning of the unpartionable space as well.

If the Upgrade to V6 failed : than don't use the CD to upgrade but copy the upgrade files to the CF card , do the update . Remove the CF card. Delete all files and Copy Track 01 and Track 02 on it. Do a manual reset of the radio and it should load the sat nav data

Please Note , that several people said that The Cd Upgrade is not working. You need to do it from CF Card.

Please , tell the other readers whether this worked or not !

Success !!!!!

First step done (updating my Becker 7944 radio software from V5.01 to V6.0).
That's how I did it:

1. no CD needed at all
2. CF card 2GB (a Kingston Elite Pro that I had laying around)
3. clean CF card with DiskPart
4. format (FAT32) CF card with HPUSBDisk
5. burn SystemCD_V6.iso on CF card with ISO to USB program (

6. insert in radio and radio made the V6.0 update after reset

Next step is writing the 4Gb SanDisk Ultra CFcard with the updated maps.
This is not 100% clear to me, see my previous posting, especially the size of the partitions and the MagicText and where to write it exactly.

Upgrade to V6 is O.K. now, with a 2GB CF card (see my previous post).
CD upgrade was not working for me with V5.0 installed.
Tomorrow I will try the map update. Untill now, no success, maybe I put the MagicText at the wrong place???

Congrats for the V6 update!
The partitions were correct as you gave them in the previous post!
Just file copy Track01 and Track02 to your CF card!
But please make sure that it is a sandisk ultra II or extreme 4 GB card! Others may not work!
The magic text should be at Hex address: EE237000 (beginning of unpartioned space!)
and at Hex address: F4A46600 (beginning of unpartionable space!)
You need to open with Winhex Tools , than open disk, than physical media (your CF card should be clicked !)

start sector : 31,0 KB
partition 1 : Fat 32 : 3,7 GB
unpartioned space: 104 MB
unpartionable space : 5,5 MB

If you have diffferent values you probably have to find out the Hex Adress by clicking in Winhex the "unpartioned space" and "unaprtionable space ".... I hope this explains it!

Putting the maps on the 4GB SanDisk Ultra did not work. I think I tried everthing...
Today I bought a second hand 4GB SanDisk Ultra II from eBay.
Could it really be that Ultra does not work and Ultra II will do the job?
I will let you know soon.

Puhhhh.
I have Ultra II and extreme 4GB , only.
Can 't tell to be honest !
But : somewhere in this forum on update maybe somewhere in the V5 forum must be a list of CF cards that work.
Did you add the magic text to the appropriate Hex addresses ?

I did add the MagicText followed with 0A 00 00 00 00... at the beginning of the unpartitioned (Offset ECCC4600) and unpartitionable space (EE44CC00).
The offset I read in the left colom at the first upper row of the hex table, I suppose this is right.
I will know more when I get the Ultra II card.

That is correct !
Seems to be different addresses but that is probably due to the different sizes of the partitions.

I prepared a SanDisk 4GB Ultra II CF card with Version 6.0.
Put it in the Becker Cascade BE7944 and the installation followed.
More on this later.
How can I check the firmware version of the radio and the version of the navi software?
(to be absolutely sure that the latest software and maps are installed).

After i + NAVI input, the first line of the Becker 7944 says:

11 CAS_EU_NAV_6.0.1

So I think the update succeeded.
After all, it was more easy then I thought.
The main problem is that German is not my native language.
How did I do it?
First, I updated the radio with a 2GB CF card without the two map files.
This update succeeded.
Then I prepared a 4GB CF card with the files TRACK01.RAW and TRACK02.RAW.
No success, the radio kept asking for the NAVI info.
Then I completely cleaned the 4GB SanDisk Ultra II CF card.
I also made a low level format (all zero's, virgin card).
Then I prepared the c

yes, the update worked and it is the correct version!
Congratulations.
Unfortunately, your message seems to be a bit truncated at the end.
now you have to make sure that the CF card is prepared with a low level format (what you did!).
Than follow the instructions for the partitions and copy track01 and track02 on it and don't forget the magic texts.
If the sat nav data are not loaded at once than do a manual reset of the radio and wait for the response. On normal the radios load the data very well!

PS: well done taken into account that German in not your mother's language, indeed!
PSS: if in trouble with the language than use Google chrome "translation of the page " function. If it is a text than copy & paste to google translator... sometimes the results are not really optimal but you will understand what it is all about.
