These tarballs are simple to use w/ the standard Doozan Forums U-Boot.
It will boot with the default env variables and bootcommands that are
built-in.
1. Prepare your USB drive. Use MBR or, if your U-Boot supports it,
GPT/EFI partitioning, with at least 2 partitions.
Suggested layout:
part 1 : 1GB Ext2 or Ext3 (modify env var usb_rootfstype to match)
part 2 : 256MB swap
2. Copy the tarball to partition 1, and untar it there. If on another
machine (Laptop, Desktop) then unmount, remove and place in a USB
port on your Pogoplug/Dockstar/GoFlex/NSA320. Make sure it is the
__only__ USB device attached.
3. Reboot/boot the device. It will boot w/ standard/stock
precompiled commands and values. U-Boot usb bootcommands __do not__
have to be altered for it to boot.
4. Since the rootfs in this tarball has avahi installed, it should
be visible on your network as "rescue.local", so something like
ssh root@rescue.local
should access it on your network.
