Symbian^3 kommt später

Auf einer Konferenz hat Nokia CEO Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo berichtet, das Symbian^3 wegen "Qualitätsproblemen" auf Ende 2010 verschoben wird:

The release of the eagerly-awaited Symbian 3 operating system, which powers Nokia Corp.'s high-end phones, has been delayed to meet quality requirements, Nokia CEO Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo said in a conference call on Thursday. "We will not ship the product before the quality meets the end user's needs and demands," he said. He promised that Symbian 3 would be "more intuitive, fun and faster" and said several phones running that operating system would be launched by the end of the year. He noted, however, that Nokia could in parallel keep releasing phones running the earlier version, particularly in emerging markets. As for Symbian 4, Kallasvuo said he doesn't believe that Nokia will need it this year as Symbian 3 will really do the "heavy lifting."

Nokia Java Runtime 2.1 beta für S60V5

Java Runtime 2.1 Beta for Symbian

Java Runtime (JRT) for Symbian is a mobile runtime for Java™ applications. It is used when running Java based applications on your mobile device. For example if you download a Java game from Ovi Store, it is executed using Java Runtime.

The latest version, Java Runtime 2.1, is now available for S60 5th Edition devices as a Beta release. The JRT 2.1 Beta release replaces the earlier JRT 2.0 Beta release. The final JRT 2.1 release will be included in Nokia devices based on the Symbian^3 platform, and it will also be available for S60 5th Edition devices as an add-on.

JRT 2.1 Beta provides developers and end users early access to the latest mobile Java features including:

* Improved installation user experience
* Improved MIDlet start-up experience
* Improved security user experience

Download Java Runtime 2.1 Beta today and use it with the thousands of MIDlets available in Ovi Store and elsewhere.

Bisher waren es Gerüchte, jetzt wurde das Nokia X5 und das Nokia C5 offiziell vorgestellt aber...keines der beiden kommt in Deutschland auf den Markt sondern nur in Asien.

The two new TD-SCDMA devices will be on show at the World Expo Shanghai 2010, where users will be able to check them out in the China Mobile Expo area. The C5 and X5 will be also the first devices to include the joint mobile app store – Mobile Market-Ovi Store. The devices will be able to make the most of China Mobile’s high-speed 3G network and come preloaded with apps including CMCC Music, Mobile Video and Fetion IM. Following on from its Xseries brethern, the Nokia X5 is the perfect device for music lovers, boasting dedicated music keys and quick and easy access to CMCC music. It also boasts a five-megapixel camera, dual LED flash and video recording. The iconic design will be available in black, white and red. The Nokia C5-01 boasts a tasty stainless-steel keypad in a sleek, compact design with a lush 2.4-inch screen.
