How to - Windows 8 on your slate

1. download and extract the archive above
2. install 707-4 mod, then 706-6, then 707-5 and finally 709-5
3. restart
calibration
1. run "regedit", search for "linearity" and delete all keys it finds
2. open cmd and paste this:
tabcal lincal novalidate XGridPts=5,16,60,165,258,640,922,1115,1220,1264 YGridPts=5,12,39,105,225,400,575,695,761,788
Then a multipoint calibration will start.

ALL hardware keys
[download] BIOS 704 or [thread] BIOS 704 modded
Flash BIOS version 704 from above
Install windows update: "ASUS - Other hardware - EeeSlate ACPI Utility" (listed as "optional update" in windows updates)

g-sensor/rotate screen
Install windows update: "ASUS - Other hardware - EeeSlate ACPI Utility (GSensor)"

VGA display driver

Sie müssen registriert sein, um Links zu sehen.

1. run cmd.exe as administrator and type: bcdedit.exe /set testsigning on
2. reboot
3. download and extract the driver above and run Setup.exe
4. run cmd.exe as administrator and type: bcdedit.exe /set testsigning off
5. reboot
- OpenGL 2.1 and HDMI output should work fine now!

If the hardware keys/g-sensor are still not working, go to control panel -> windows updates and click on "optional updates" (if its displayed). If you can find some ASUS drivers there, just install it, restart and everything should work fine.

AW: Asus EP121 - Windows 8

Hi,

zunächst einmal danke für die Anleitung!

Ich habe auch das EP121 und möchte nun nach anfänglichem Zögern auch auf Win8 umsteigen.
Dazu hätte ich allerdings noch einige Fragen. Würde mein System am liebsten komplett neu aufsetzen.

Der korrekte Ablauf wäre doch dann wie folgt, oder?
1) EP121 auf Werkseinstellungen zurücksetzen -> Win7 neu installieren
2) Upgrade auf Windows 8
3) oben aufgeführte Treiber installieren

Korrekt? Oder doch Schritt 3) vor Schritt 2) und die Treiber schon unter Win7 installieren?

Die 4 Treiber für den Wacom Pen (707-4, 706-6,....) sollen jeweils per Setup.exe unter Windows installiert werden, oder?

Muss ich oben stehende BIOS-Version (2,5MB) nach wie vor flashen oder reicht es aus, die neuere (nur 889.55 Bytes) von der Asus-Page zu nutzen?
Wird die entsprechende BIOS-Datei dann einfach unter Windows ausgeführt?
