Hello everyone. I am intending to set up an OScam server as a personal project. I own an Enigma 2 box (Vu+) and I ordered the Omnikey 3121 reader. I will also be purchasing a smart card along with the corresponding CI+ CAM module. The goal is to have my laptop act as an OScam server that would provide CS to my Vu+. I found instructions for setting up an OScam server on Linux, so I'll use a virtual machine on my mac. I would like to note that I'm intending to use the server in my local network only, I'm not interested in exposing the server to the internet. In summary, this is how I would expect things to work:
set up the server on my mac
make the server read the card using the card reader
add the client (my Vu+) to the server
put the C line in my receiver
start watching
However, I'm already seeing issues with my plan. The smart card will probably be paired with the CI+ module. In that case, the Omnikey is useless, right? Should I've gotten a reader with a CI+ slot? Or could maybe the Unicam Prime be helpful in this scenario? I want to note that this is the first time I'm trying something like this, but I'm willing to learn.
The first point is, that oscam cannot communicate with CI[+] modules.
So, if the card is paired with a module and valid CWs cannot be read with an oscam supported reader like Omnikey 3121 then you have no chance to share the card with oscam.
Well that's a bummer. So in order to share a card, it mustn't be paired with the CI module, got it. I guess that's why sharing is nowadays dead compared to like 5-6 years ago? Would it work if I used another E2 receiver as a server? The Unicam would also not be helpful in my case? I was planning on purchasing a digitalb or HD+ card.
Alright, so a HD+ card would be the way to go. What about packages that have smart cards paired to the CI module, but were still available through sharing? I remember people watching digitalb couple of years ago with a C line.
