Info TomTom XXL540 GPS Signal Issues

I have two TomTom XXL540 IQ Routes edition. All have internal memory.
I have managed to get new updated maps but unfortunately I cannot get them to lock onto satellites and load map.

I have tried numerous times updating GPS QuickFix. I click on the green bars at top of screen which then goes to a satellite screen. you can see the globe with satellite numbers but the large columns you can see sometimes 4 or 5 bars rising then lowering back to zero, then back to 5 then 4 then none.

I even left the GPS device run for over an hour and still nothing except "waiting for valid GPS signal"

Does anyone know what the problem is and how to fix?

jetzt hast du (bondy99) ja auch den Weg in dieses Forum gefunden Dein Problem ist mir von den anderen Foren schon bekannt.
das WNRO-Fehler - Problem hast du ja mit der Navcore v9.451 nicht mehr. du kannst die Navi´s komplett neu aufsetzen.
Dafür mache als erstes von jedem der 2 Geräte ein komplettes Backup.
dann beginnst du erst mit nur einem Gerät, das zweite bleibt zur Sicherheit noch unberührt liegen.
dann lösche ( nicht formatieren ! ) den gesamten Inhalt von einem Navi.
dann lege die Datei " ttn " aus der Datei : clear_flash (pilsit).zip ( im Anhang) in den leeren internen Speicher, und starte das Gerät neu.
Die Datei "ttn" (clear_flash) musst Du danach wieder rauslöschen , sonst startet das Gerät ständig neu und der Flashspeicher wird dabei immer wieder erneut gelöscht

dann kommt das Navcore auf dein Navi. schaue dich in unseren Downloadbereich um: Tomtom - Download-Bereich
zu empfehlen sind : Dr. Lecter's DSA-Navcore_9.510_Auto-On_WNRO-Fix GL1 & GL2_TTS (3,5" und 4,3" Zoll)
oder auch : NC 9.541_ WNRO-Fix_32MB-Ram mit auto-an-Funktion
danach füge deinen Map-Ordner wieder ein / bei dir wieder Australien
dann Sound und Voice, eventuell noch den TTS-Ordner für die Computerstimmen.
jetzt hast du erst mal was zu tun, wenn du nicht weiter kommst, melde Dich wieder.

Yep, there is something definitely wrong with my device. I'll do the entire process some time today and possibly tomorrow as well. I never thought of using clear flash. I wasn't sure about it.

I will definitely be in contact if I get stuck or goes pear-shape.

I was looking at the TomTom download area and seen v9530.99 for XL IQ. Not sure if that's an update. I couldn't download it, I tried three times.
My device is XXL540 IQ Routes. perhaps may not be appropriate for mine.

I have undertaken the task as per instructions. I have compiled one of the devices after flashing.

I went outside to connect with vehicle and switched device on. I then entered details for destination, still have the same problem.

It initially started to fill some columns in the satellite section, then after a few minutes it went back to zero. Same thing again "Waiting for valid GPS Signal"
Something somewhere has gone astray.
I removed TomTom Home from the device, do I need to reinstate it?

There was nothing in the ephem folder so I just transferred over what was in my original.
I have Navcore v9.541 installed on my device.

I'm wondering if the Navcore is the problem or some other software issue, since XXL540 is no longer supported.

There is something amiss somewhere.

du kannst die Version: Navcore 9530.99 für TomTom XL IQ Routes testen,
aber bedenke , da ist der WNRO-Fehler noch nicht behoben worden

I tried to download Navcore v9530.99 for TomTom XL IQ Routes but couldn't download it the other day.
I tried to download again by clicking on the green download button at least 6 times, still wont download. Even after I clicked "I like it" .
Maybe it needs to be reuploaded again?

From my undertanding my device TomTom XXL540 IQ Routes apparently has a GL2 Chip. Maybe that's part of the problem why I cant get a satellite lock and load map, although I had in the past, something somewhere in my GPS device is not right.

Ja, dein XXL540 hat den GPS-Chip GL2 drin. Dein Navigationsgerät ist zu 100% vom WNRO-Fehler betroffen.
(WNRO-Fehler: findet schlecht bis kein GPS, Datum - 1.Januar und Uhrzeit 00:00.)
Um diesen Fehler zu beheben muss die Datei " glgps " in dem Ordner "bin" ,auf der Hauptebene vom Navi, gegen diese aus dem Datei-Anhang
ausgetauscht werden. Dieses wäre nicht nötig wenn du die Anwendung (Navcore) 9.541 auf dem Navi hast,
dort ist diese Datei schon von Hause aus getauscht.

Yes, you have it does not seem to resolve the problem with my device, it seems to have a mind of it's own.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong with this unit, seems like everyone has theirs working good except me.
All I can do is repeat what ones done previously as per your suggestion / instruction.

With regards to reset, there is no hole at the bottom of my device where you can put a pin or straighten paper clip to reset. On mine you need to press the power button down for about twenty seconds or less and then one can read the info on the screen.

wenn diese dein Navi auch nicht wieder zum Laufen bringt, dann kann nur noch ein Hardware-Problem vorliegen .

I tried doing what was suggested which was replace the glgps in the bin folder. Hasn't made any difference. I have Navcore v9.541 installed some time ago.
Maybe I should reinstall with the one provided.

I tried to download using link provided but for some reason it says there is a typo and can't connect

I wonder if there iis an update, upgrade or patch that I could use that might be good for my navigation system, even though its no longer supported

Just a thought, does anyone know of someone or an electronic place that repairs GPS device, especially old XXL540 device, I would like to know what hardware in my device is causing problem of locking satellites. It can see them, then after some amount of time, the grey bars that use to go up before they turn blue, goes back down, tries to get back up again and then stop. I don't want to buy a new device, rather repair the faulty one. Thanks.

Managed to get one XXL540 device working with alleged SirfStarIII Chip, it works and had no falure even though it's supposed to be GL2 Chip.

The other XXL540 device worked for a short time. It worked for a few days then the message "waiting for valid gps signal".

The problem with the second unit, it does not like having to have new directions added to it when you are transiting to an original destination.

So I stopped using that one for a while.

In the meantime I'm using another device that requires new battery, It's circuitry has NAV4 on the pc board.

The device does say its a GL2 type, but for some bizarre reason whatever file I downloaded in the past must have something to do with SirfStarIII when I tried to use TTA on the device to update GPSQuickFix It could not decide what GPS chip I had, I deleted couple of files (I don't know which ones). It then saw I had SirfStarIII chip. it was able to update GPSQuickfix , seen and locked onto satellites, been working good so far until I started to get weird speeches during turn directions. Never had that problem before.

However, the other device TTA sees it as GL2 chip. It updated the GPSQuickfix but I still cannot get that device to lock onto satellites to load map. It still has issues, whether its software or hardware I don't know, there are no GPS technicians in Australia that work on these tomtom devices. Most of these tech people work on Government devices, mining devices or military devices, not for grass roots people.

Es gibt immer noch Probleme, egal ob es sich um Software oder Hardware handelt, ich weiß es nicht. In Australien gibt es keine GPS-Techniker, die an diesen TomTom-Geräten arbeiten. Die meisten dieser Techniker arbeiten an Regierungsgeräten, Bergbaugeräten oder Militärgeräten, nicht für die Basisbevölkerung.

Deine Navigationsgeräte haben den GPS-Chip GL2 verbaut, auch wenn TTActivator eventuell etwas anderes sagt.
den GPS-Fix kannst du auch mit TomTom HOME machen.
Die seltsamen Abbiegeanweisungen können auch mit der Map zusammenhängen.
du kannst ja die NAV3 Map versuchen

Hier ist ein Link, um die Quickfix herunterzuladen, ohne TomTom HOME zu benutzen. Beachte, dass du einen Dateimanager brauchst, der Cabinet-Dateien öffnen kann, um die Daten zu extrahieren (Rar, 7zip)

Kopiere / ersetze einfach die Dateien aus der Cabinet-Datei in den Ephem-Ordner deines Geräts.
