Nvidia hat neue Treiber für seine Geforce-Grafikkarten veröffentlicht. Mit den 295.73-Treibern profitieren Spieler von bis zu 45% mehr Tempo im beliebten Rollenspiel The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Für Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Diablo III (Beta) und Skyrim verspricht Nvidia mit dem neuen Treiber realistischere Schatten dank verbessertem Ambient Occlusion.
Um Ambient Occlusion in Skyrim zu erzwingen, hangeln Sie sich im Treibermenü durch „Manage 3D Settings“ zu „Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim“. Falls Sie es nicht finden, deaktivieren Sie „Show only programs found on this computer“. Regeln Sie dann „Ambient Occlusion“ auf „Performance“ für flüssiges Gameplay oder „Quality“ für höchste Qualität. Langsame Grafikkarten könnten überfordert sein.
Besitzer mehrerer Grafikkarten freuen sich über rund 90% Performance-Steigerung in der neulich veröffentlichten Mass Effect 3 Demo im Vergleich zu Single-GPU-Systemen.
Außerdem gebe es für über 50 Spiele neue 3D-Vision- und SLI-Profile. Aporpos 3D Vision – man habe ein neues 3D-Fadenkreuz implementiert, das gleichzeitig dem 2D-Fadenkreuz entsprechen soll, aber auch ein optimales 3D-Erlebnis bieten soll.
Auch an PhysX hat Nvidia geschraubt und verspricht beste Spielerfahrung für Titel wie Alice: Madness Returns und Batman: Arkham City. PhysX ist eine Nvidia-exklusive Technologie, die Physik-Berechnungen auf die Grafikkarte auslagert und dadurch besonders beeindruckende Effekte ermöglicht. Allerdings ist die Zahl kompatibler Spiele vergleichsweise gering.
Ferner nimmt sich das Update einiger Bugs an. So sollen beispielsweise in Battlefield 3 weniger Textur-Fehler ausgegeben werden, die auf Karten mit 1 GB oder weniger Speicher in den Ultra-Settings aufgetreten waren.
