Three „hidden” transponders at 13E

It turns out that the number of free transponders at 13°E is smaller than widely known. Italian broadcaster Mediaset uses three frequencies on Hot Bird 9 (13°E) satellite providing channels in DVB-S2 modulated in 16APSK, this is the reason why most of digital receivers cannot receive this transmissions. It is interesting that these three transponders are excluded from digital channels tables in most popular services providing them. We have managed to confirm a reception of a „hidden” transmissions in DVB-S2/16APSK from 13°E!
At this time, we can confirm receiving of 16APSK signals from 13°E with three devices. We had the most stable signal on Prof Revolution Series DVB-S2 7301 DVB card. After channel search it showed correct channel names with full technical parameters. We also found two receivers that can successfully find signal and search channels: Maximum TS-3000 CX-CI and Vantage HD 8000 S PVR Twin (second receiver was much less stable and needed few attempts to correctly search channels with their names).
None of these three devices can directly receive 16APSK modulation, because signal is not stable. Picture and sound on FTA channels from these frequencies is disrupted.
It is very curious that even Eutelsat in tables of digital channels transmitted over their satellites, which are published on its website, omits three transponders from which Mediaset is transmitting channels in DVB-S2/16APSK. What could be the reason for hiding Mediaset channels and not confirming these transmissions?

Some data channels and additional identificators with copied PID Values can be found at this frequency. All channels are encrypted in Nagravision 3 (CAID: 1802, 1804 and 1805) except of HD channels, which are encrypted in Seca MediaGuard 2 (CAID: 0100 ProvID: 000B).

This frequency is active, but signal is too unstable to get channel names. In best case we have found 21 no name services.

It is important to notice that when trying to search we need some patience because sometimes receiver cannot get channel`s names or find all services due to unstable signal. While testing, few attempts will likely be needed to correctly scan all frequencies listed above. Also be aware that not all HD receivers will manage to reveive these transmissions. This discovery also reveals that there is just one free transponder available at 13°E position - tp. 120 with frequency 10.911 GHz, pol. V. Other transponders are already active or like tp. 112 (10.758 GHz, pol. V) are leased (in this case by Cyfrowy Polsat) and wait for the launch.
Update
After informations from one of our readers we have found another frequency which broadcasting channels in DVB-S2/16APSK. It is available from Atlantic Bird 1 satellite (12,5°W) at frequency 12,718 GHz, pol. H, SR: 36510, FEC: 2/3. There are available following channels (PID V/A/PCR/SID):
